LACHY HAMILTON: JAZZ SAXOPHONIST, COMPOSER AND BANDLEADER

Saxophonist Lachy Hamilton, based in Sydney, Australia, leads various eponymous ensembles and regularly performs as a sideman around the country. He completed his Bachelor of Music (Hons) from the James Morrison Academy of Music in 2017 where he studied with Jeff Clayton, Mat Jodrell, Carl Mackey, James Morrison and others, and was the sole recipient of the 2016 Excellence in Performance Award. He was a finalist in the 2014 and 2015 James Morrison Scholarship, and was selected for the 2015 Telluride All Stars program, studying under Bob Montgomery, Josh Quinlan and Ernie Watts. Hannah James is an award-winning bassist and composer now resident in Sydney, Australia. She leads the acclaimed ten-piece ensemble Pharos, the HJT (Hannah James Trio) and HJQuintet. She is a member of leading Australian jazz ensembles such as the JazzGroove Mothership Orchestra, Mingus Amongst Us, Andrew Robertson Big Band, and others. She was the 2011 recipient of the Jann Rutherford Memorial Award and a recipient of the ANU Undergraduate Scholarship for four consecutive years. Hannah has performed across Australia, the UK and Asia in jazz, contemporary pop and theatre productions. SOPHIE MIN: BRISBANE-BASED PIANIST, COMPOSER & IMPROVISER

Sophie Min is a Brisbane-based pianist, composer, and improviser whose work shows a distinctive personal aesthetic. Now considered one of the most outstanding young jazz musicians in Australia, she was in 2015 a member of the JM Jazz World Orchestra, an international big band made up of the world's top young jazz musicians, which performed across Croatia, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands, before returning to Croatia. The same year she participated in the Centrum Jazz Port Townsend Workshop in Washington, USA. For three weeks in 2018, she was resident at the Banff International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music, Canada.
